By Stephen B. Moliterno, Shodan - Kihen Ryu Ju Jitsu

a system of attack using throws, hitting, kicking, stabbing, slashing, choking, bending and twisting limbs, pinning an opponent and defense against these attacks all fall under the collective banner of JuJutsu”.

Ju-Jitsu has various names such as Taijitsu, Yawara, Judo, Kogusoku, Torite, Kempo, Hakuda, Shubaku, but they are all kinds of Ju-Jitsu. It is proven that Ju-Jitsu is the parent Martial Art of Aikido, Judo and Karate. All Japanese systems have a root in some form of Ju-Jitsu.

Various records and accounts have been passed down over the ages with regard to the true meaning of Ju-Jitsu but few of them are accurate. It can be said, though, that the name apparently derived from the expression Ju Yoku Go O Seisu which can be translated as Softness Controls Hardness. Kihen Ryu Ju-Jitsu, like other schools of Ju-Jitsu’s main premise, is to apply a technique with efficiency (Seiryoku Zenyo, putting your energy to work most effectively) against an attacker with softness to the practitioner and pain or hardness to the recipient. Ju Yoku Go O Seisu, Softness Controls Hardness.
